For now, here'south #3…
To quickly summarize for those who don't have time to lookout man the video now, I'll briefly touch on each question:
-
Did you lot accept a turning betoken in your blogging career?
— Nope, not really. But it all depends on what y'all classify every bit a "turning point." Some become an overnight success because in today's world a mail service can go viral and you end up on the Ellen Show inside a couple of days. For some, this may be the turning point. For me, my turning betoken is a combination of all of the footling successes forth the way.
Small goals met, accomplishments fabricated that I never idea I'd achieve, and then on. For me, an instance of this was existence invited to be a contributor on one of the biggest blogs I know. For y'all, your turning indicate may be actualization on the Today Show. Then although I never had an "Ah ha" moment of "I've made it because…" I've chosen to gloat the small victories and create a slow turning out. Which I'thou incredibly thankful for, because it gives me more "meat" to sympathise my blog, its readers (Y'all), and I get to learn more and more than about what I'yard passionate nearly forth the way.

Do you think Facebook ads are a good way to attract followers?
I've recently changed my viewpoint on this question, then I'thousand and so glad you're asking me now. I believe that Facebook ads tin be a smashing way to gain readers and followers. HOWEVER, before you merely blindly create and run an ad… I strongly urge you to practise some research. Spotter a YouTube video, read a web log post, etc. on how to run Facebook ads. I learned the hard way, and so have many others that I know. You can spend a TON of money on Facebook ads, just shooting in the dark. Find out who your audience is, who you want to target, and create something to gain when the reader and follower engage with the Facebook advertising. Possibly something like a style to collect their email address, have a landing page that'due south total of GREAT content that can make your visitor want to plough in to a follower, etc.
Merely remember, creating a vague advert only nigh your Facebook page can probably get your follower account upwards, merely engaging fans is what you want. Sure, higher fan numbers are something that brands like to see. But if your goal is to really give visits/sales to your blog/site, you lot want followers that are truly interested in what you accept to offer. Or else Facebook volition waste product your ads by showing them to those who don't really care almost what you share.
P.S. I'thousand definitely no Facebook ads pro. I actually recommend Amy Porterfield's Podcast for some serious help in that area. -
Do you take to have a niche with a blog?
I'm probably alone on this one by maxim "no." Only I'one thousand not sorry. Especially proverb "No, you don't have to accept a niche when you want to showtime a weblog" to those who haven't started yet. Why? Because that's the idea/thought I had when I showtime started, and then I started a blog about party planning and styling. A few months in, I was bored out of my heed with constantly talking almost political party styling. I wanted to talk near so much more than! I still loved styling and creating parties, but being limited to what I could talk well-nigh on my "Political party Planning Blog" was suffocating. And then, I wiped the slate clean and started over with a web log name that could cover a ton of topics I wanted to talk about.
My communication:
If y'all're strictly wanting to offset a blog to make coin, yep… blogging well-nigh a certain niche would be a nifty idea. Yous may become super bored with information technology, but information technology may exist a niche that's high in demand and low in supply. (I give an example of creating a blog about vacuum reviews in the video so information technology can help make more sense.)
If y'all're wanting to starting time a weblog about something that you love and so much, but you're non quite certain if you lot'll want to talk most something else besides from time to time… create a blog that tin can hands transform into another topic and then yous don't have to get-go all over from scratch because of a domain proper name and blog name.
Do I have a niche? I practise actually.
But await a minute Jessica, you lot just said you don't have to have i.
Aye, I know this. But what happened over time was that my niche defined itself after a yr or so of blogging. I niched downwards afterwards finding out what weblog postal service topics I thoroughly enjoyed writing about, and what my readers enjoy reading about. When I kickoff started, I thought for sure I'd be blogging near kid life hacks and kid parties all of the time. Come to find out… I didn't actually enjoy that as much as I did writing about style, decorating my home, cooking quick and easy recipes, and styling parties for adults and girl time. Thank goodness I didn't name my blog "FantabulousKids" right? Merely a idea. So DO NOT permit the idea that "I don't have a niche yet, and then I tin can't start my blog," stop y'all.
